Dust off your dancing shoes and prepare for an evening of autumnal splendour as the Wickham Halloween Ball returns to one of TeaBridge’s best-known historic houses.
For one night, the magnificent ballroom at Wickham Hall will welcome guests for an evening of music, dancing, drinks and Halloween festivities in suitably spectacular surroundings.
This year’s celebration also happens to fall on the Night of the Lantern Man, one of the more curious dates in TeaBridge’s autumn calendar — making it a particularly fitting night for a Halloween Ball.
What to Expect
The Wickham Halloween Ball combines the elegance of a traditional evening at Wickham Hall with the mystery and mischief of Halloween — and this year, guests are invited to step behind the mask.
Inspired by the first Lantern Man Ball, held at Wickham Hall in 1820, this year’s celebration takes the form of a Masquerade Ball, honoring one of TeaBridge’s oldest and most curious traditions.
Guests can look forward to music and dancing in the historic Wickham Ballroom, drinks throughout the evening, atmospheric Halloween decorations, and the rare opportunity to experience Wickham Hall after dark.
The Hall will be transformed with candlelight, autumn foliage, masks, lanterns and Halloween touches, while the ballroom takes center stage for an evening that nods to the grandeur — and mystery — of that first gathering more than two centuries ago.
Masquerade masks and Halloween finery are warmly encouraged, although traditional evening wear is equally welcome.
And because no proper masquerade is complete without a little intrigue, guests will receive a secret code during the evening. Solve it, and you may uncover something hidden within Wickham Hall — or perhaps learn a little more about what happened at the first Lantern Man Ball of 1820.
After all, the Ball falls on the Night of the Lantern Man.
And in TeaBridge, some traditions are remembered.

Wickham Hall
Set on the banks of the Thames, Wickham Hall has been home to the Wickham family for generations and remains one of TeaBridge’s most recognisable landmarks.
Although much of the Hall remains a private family residence, its ballroom has played host to dances, celebrations and special occasions throughout its history.
The Halloween Ball offers a rare opportunity to step through its doors and experience one of TeaBridge’s grandest rooms after dark.
The Night of the Lantern Man
Those familiar with TeaBridge folklore may recognise something significant about this year’s date.
24 October is the Night of the Lantern Man.
For generations, stories have been told in TeaBridge of a solitary lantern seen moving beside the Thames after nightfall.
Most locals will happily tell you it’s nothing more than an old village story.
