Abstract art is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect. I coined the term ” Abstract Afrocentrism” to explain my black art that is rich in African influence and plays around with shapes, colors, and texture.
I showcase my Afrocentric art in London and Minneapolis and this page highlights my sold work to date. You can view my current work for sale in the Abstract Afrocentrism series using the button below.
ENTERING THE SIXTH
This tryptic depicts a spiritual journey. In the first pose, the woman is inhibited, unsure of sure who she is, affected by the views of others and understands self through other people’s perceptions.
In the second pose, she is slightly freer and is starting to see patterns in the world. Her gut and intuition are getting stronger; however, she still has some way to go before she can reach her fully awoken state.
The third pose depicts her spiritual awakening and the final stage of her journey. She fully understands the laws of the universe and replaces the concept of coincidence with synchronicity. Now her Third Eye is open.
She has entered her sixth chakra, and she is ready for change.
